About Us
The Chicago Area Healthcare Recruiters (CAHR) is a not-for-profit organization consisting of professionals responsible for healthcare recruitment. CAHR is an affiliate member of the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council (MCHC) and a Chapter Member of the National Association for Health Care Recruitment (NAHCR).

Who We Are
CAHR had its early beginnings as the Chicago Area Nurse Recruiters (CANR). Founded in the summer of 1975, CANR began when four nurse recruiters, with remarkable dedication and foresight, met to discuss professional ideas and concerns.

CANR became a forum for networking and professional development, serving as an organized voice for nurse recruiters. Health care changes in recent years brought modifications and expansions to the nurse recruiters' responsibilities, including the recruitment of all health care professionals.

In September 1993, the CANR became the Chicago Area Healthcare Recruiters organization. Membership has since been expanded to all healthcare recruiters.

Local CAHR-sponsored conferences have been held for members to provide up-to-date recruitment information. Access to networking on a national scale has been made possible through the National Association for Health Care Recruitment (NAHCR) membership. While support to the professional remains the organization's priority, community awareness and involvement have become logical extensions.

CAHR is a unique and valuable asset to the Chicago area. In 1993, 1997 and 1999, CAHR was presented with the prestigious NAHCR Chapter Achievement Award at the annual NAHCR convention in St. Louis, San Francisco and New Orleans. In 1996, CAHR proudly served as host to the annual NAHCR convention held in Chicago.
